Upper Cumberland Development District: Area Agency on Aging and Disability

UCDD VISION: A region abundant in resources, fostering a productive and vibrant life for the people of the Upper Cumberland.
UCDD MISSION: To help the Upper Cumberland region cultivate self sufficiency and build true wealth through innovation, collaboration, and leadership.

 

AAAD MISSION:  Through advocacy, planning, and coordination, provide a comprehensive and innovative service delivery system that meets community and social service needs so older adults, caregivers, and adults with disabilities can achieve and maintain active, healthy, and independent lives.

 

The AAAD focuses on expanding access to essential non-medical services for older adults and adults with physical disabilities, supporting family caregivers, promoting health and well-being, protecting the rights of vulnerable individuals, and addressing the unique challenges faced by these populations living in our rural fourteen-county region. Whether helping someone remain safely in their home, connecting a caregiver with much-needed support, providing Medicare counseling, advocating for residents of long-term care facilities, or linking individuals to critical community resources, our work is centered on empowering older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers to make informed choices and live the lives they choose.

By investing in our people, we're investing in the fabric of our town, building a stronger and more cohesive community. We are physically out here, rolling up our sleeves, and doing whatever we can to make a difference in our community.

We choose a person or an organization experiencing times of need or loss every quarter to sponsor.  Our mission is to strengthen our community as we help our fellow citizens, in times of need or loss, to ensure a better quality of life.

Heather Skender-Newton

and Founder of SNR Cares

SNR Cares is a non-profit organization founded by Heather Skender-Newton because a profound social responsibility drives her work. Heather views real estate as a vehicle for spreading positive change throughout her community- it's much more than a job to her. Her vision has always been to create a real estate firm that helps people, and not just sell them a house. She created the nonprofit SNR Cares to help people beyond just real estate.

SNR Cares was formed as a team member give-back program, to better benefit our service area, through funds collected from serving our clients and events we have for the public.
